Studio Recital

Description:

Cello students perform a solo with piano accompaniment. A potluck reception follows.

MTAC Holiday Festival

Description:

The theme for this festival changes annually. Two adjudicators provide written feedback and award gold, silver, and bronze medals for excellent, very good, and good performances. “Born in Russia” is the theme for this year’s festival.

MTAC Certificate of Merit™ Program

Description:

A systematic and comprehensive program of theory, technique, sight-reading, eartraining, and performance.

Students perform for an adjudicator, and they also take a written theory and ear-training exam. Students who pass the minimum requirements will receive a Certificate of Merit™.

If nominated by the teacher, the adjudicator may select the student to receive a State Honors seal. Some students are also invited to perform in a Branch Honors Recital. The highest achieving students are asked to perform at the MTAC Convention.

Cost:

$50 to $75 CM fee (depending on the level)

Certificate of Merit™ Branch Honors Recital

Description:

The top students receiving CM Branch Honors are invited to perform in the Branch Honors Recital. Because of the selective nature of this event, there is no festival fee.

MTAC Branch Baroque Festival

Description:

A Baroque piece is performed. Two adjudicators provide written feedback on the performance. One third of students are selected as winners and receive an honors seal.

MTAC Branch Competition

Description:

By invitation only. The few students exhibiting the most polished performance in the studio are entered in a competition for the entire Pleasant Valley-Ventura County Branch of the MTAC (involving all instruments). Winners receive trophies and cash prizes.

MTAC Ensemble Festival

Description:

The Ensemble Festival gives students an opportunity to perform duets or other small ensembles with other students, friends, or family members. This event also includes a contest to design the t-shirt for the festival, which each participant receives (included in the fee). This festival has no judging or formal repertoire requirements.

$30 Festival fee

MTAC Convention

Description:

The highest achieving students in the Certificate of Merit™ program are invited to perform at the annual MTAC Convention. Accompanist provided.
